Hanging on Just by a Thread
you finally let loose
the tight grip
the daily grind has
from 9 to 5
on your spirit,
lips ajar, moans lengthy
as the song of a whale
slipping out,
as you rhythmically shake
like soft leaves
dangling from the branches
of a tree in Autumn, holding on
as long as you can
in the face of soft wind
that is my breath,
as you wait patiently
for it all to be over,
for the final snap
when you will fall
into the cocoon
of my arms.
