Poem (Too Much City)
you don’t even notice
the birds
have flown South for the winter
until far out of the city
in the woods
of mid-december
twenty twenty four
you stop to listen
to voices laughter children
whooping distant
airplane traffic cars
sniffles from your nose
heavy breathing
only one lone song
chirped
throughout a three hour span
amongst the trees
as dusk settles
cloudy gray cold
at a quarter to four
in the afternoon
